Free money is up for grabs for local teachers.

The Junior League of Las Vegas offering up $50,000 in educational grant money.

JLLV will award teachers up to $1,500 per grant. Projects must be focused on the history of the City of Las Vegas. The Centennial Education Grants can be used for activities such as field trips, supplies, equipment, honorarium for speakers, or other educational activities as long as all expenses support the overall mission of the grant.

This program has been financed in whole or in part with funding from Las Vegas Centennial specialty license plates and made available by the City of Las Vegas Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial. The Commission’s mission is to preserve and celebrate the history of the city and its people.

The deadline to apply is Saturday, January 5.
